When you are in Ibiza, sometimes you can get the feeling you are in Italia, so many gorgeous well-dressed Italian people and many Italian restaurants. The godfather of the Italian restaurants is without a doubt Cipriani. Maybe you have heard of this upscale restaurant with branches in London and New York, maybe you have eaten there or maybe you have read about its famous clients in the international gossip magazines. Yes, this is the restaurant Justin and Orlando got into a fight, Paris sips her Bellini and Lindsay powders her nose. I can honestly say I was thrilled to go there to eat there myself. The best way to describe the style of the restaurant is Hollywood in the fifties, glamour at its very best. Waiters dressed in white livery, a combo playing American Songbook, a nice luxurious interior and lots of beautiful men and women. So what about food? Don´t expect Lasagna or Spaghetti Bolognese or Pizza Quattro Stagioni. They serve pure and simple Italian food and they do have some pastas and yes one type of pizza.
We started the night with those delicious Bellini’s, a champagne cocktail with peach purée. As starters, I had a wonderful salad of asparagus, beetroot and goat’s cheese and my friend chose deep-fried zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta cheese. As a main dish I opted for slow cooked lamb shoulder with the best baked potatoes ever and my friend had a nice filet of beef with fresh spinach. For dessert, our lovely waiter recommended a big bowl of homemade creamy vanilla ice cream to share. Since we didn´t drive we both drank two glasses of delicious Limoncellos each. As you can imagine not exactly a cheap restaurant but if you have the money, go!!
